Statement of Faith
We, of Freedom Covenant Global
Ministries, "have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those
things which are most surely believed among us" (Luke1:1). We believe:
The
Scripture, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired, as "holy
men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (2 Peter 1:21), "and
is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness"(2 Timothy 3:16).
God has revealed Himself as a triune being, the one true God "I AM",
manifested in three persons as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Exodus 3:14;
Isaiah 43:10, 11; Luke 3:22; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7).
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal, Divine Son of God (John 1:1), and is
the second person in the Holy Trinity (Luke3:22; Matthew 28:19). He was born
of a virgin (Luke 1:30-35), lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), was
approved of God by miracles (Acts 2:22), was crucified (Matthew 27:35),
buried (Matthew 27:57-60), raised bodily from the dead (Luke 24:39), and
exalted to the right hand of God (Acts 2:32, 33).
Man was created in a state of innocence, in the likeness and image of God,
but because of the fall of Adam, sin was imputed to all mankind, and all
human beings are born with a sinful nature (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12-19).
Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ
(Matthew 26:28). Jesus died for our sins (1 Corinthians 15:3), becoming a
substitutionary sacrifice (Hebrews 7:27), and all who repent (Acts 3:19) and
believe on Him shall be saved (Romans 10:9).
All believers are entitled to and should expect to receive the promise of
the Father (Acts 2:38, 39), the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire (Luke
3:16), according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 1:4, 5). This
experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new
birth (Acts 8:12-17, 10:44-47, 11:14-17, 15:7-9), and is witnessed by the
physical evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives
them utterance (Acts 2:4).
Sanctification is a definite, yet progressive work of grace leading to
holiness (Romans 6:22), i.e., an act of separation from that which is evil,
and of dedication unto God (Romans 12:1, 2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews
13:12).
Divine healing is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith
(James 5:15), the laying on of hands (Mark 16:18), fervent prayer (James
5:16), and is the privilege of every believer who will accept it (Matthew
4:24; Luke 4:40).
The Church is the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-27), of which He is
the Head (Ephesians 5:23). The true Church consists of all those who have
been "Born Again" (John 3:3-7), accepting the provisions which Christ has
made for our salvation. The Church is to be an agency for evangelizing the
world (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15), to be a corporate body in which
man may worship God (Hebrews 10:19-25), and to be a channel of God's purpose
to build a body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son (Ephesians
4:11-13).
The Ordinances of the Church are baptism in water (John 3:22; Matthew 28:19;
Acts 2:38), and Holy Communion, or the Lord's Supper (1 Corinthians
11:23-26).
God, by the Holy Ghost, definitely calls whom He desires, both male and
female, to serve in the five fold ministry (Ephesians 4:11), and qualifies
the ones called with power, talents, wisdom, and gifts pertaining to that
office or offices (1 Corinthians 12:28).
Both tithing and giving of offerings are taught in Scripture and should be
the cheerful practice of all Christians (Malachi 3:7-12; Matthew 23:23; Luke
6:38; Luke 11:42; Romans 11:16; 2 Corinthians 9:7).
The resurrection of the dead in Christ and their translation together with
those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the blessed
hope of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1
Corinthians 15:51, 52).
The second coming of Jesus Christ includes the pre-millennial "catching up"
(rapture) of the saints (1 Thessalonians 4:17), followed by the visible
return of Christ with His saints to reign on the earth for one thousand
years (Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27-30; Revelation 20:1-6).
There will be a great white throne judgment in which the dead will be judged
according to their works. Those not found in the Book of Life will be cast
into the lake of fire, together with the devil and his angels, the beast,
and the false prophet, and shall be tormented day and night forever and
ever. This is the second death (Revelation 19:20, 20:10-15).
"We according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth wherein
dwelleth righteousness" (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1).
